How to Play Baccarat
Baccarat is a comparing card game between the Player and Banker hands. You bet on which hand will have a point total closest to 9, or whether they will tie. Cards 2-9 are face value, 10s and face cards are 0, aces are 1. If a hand totals more than 9, only the second digit counts (e.g., 15 becomes 5).
How to Play
- Place your bet on Player, Banker, or Tie. Optional side bets are also available.
- Two cards are dealt to both the Player and Banker hands.
- Drawing rules are fixed: if either hand totals 8 or 9 (natural), no more cards are drawn. Otherwise, the Player draws on 0-5 and stands on 6-7. The Banker's draw depends on the Player's third card.
- The hand closer to 9 wins. Player pays 1:1. Banker pays 1:1 minus 5% commission. Tie pays 8:1.
Side Bets (7 Available)
- Player Pair: Player's first two cards form a pair. 11:1.
- Banker Pair: Banker's first two cards form a pair. 11:1.
- Either Pair: Either hand contains a pair. 5:1.
- Perfect Pair: Both hands have pairs: 200:1. One hand has a pair: 25:1.
- Player Bonus: Player wins by a margin. Natural 9 win: 30:1, Natural 8 win: 10:1, Win by 9: 30:1, Win by 8: 10:1, down to Win by 4: 1:1.
- Banker Bonus: Banker wins by a margin. Same pay table as Player Bonus.
- Big/Small: Based on total cards dealt. 8 decks used.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does it mean when a baccarat hand totals more than 9?
Only the second digit of the total counts toward your hand value. For example, a hand totaling 15 becomes 5, and a hand totaling 13 becomes 3.
How are the three main bet types in baccarat paid out?
Player bets pay 1 to 1, Banker bets pay 1 to 1 minus a 5% commission, and Tie bets pay 8 to 1 or 9 to 1 depending on the casino.
When do the Player and Banker receive a third card?
Drawing rules are fixed and automatic based on the initial two-card totals. The Player hand draws on totals of 5 or less, while the Banker hand follows specific rules based on what the Player drew.
What card values should I remember to calculate my hand total?
Cards 2 through 9 are worth face value, Aces are worth 1, and all 10s and face cards are worth 0.
Can I place bets other than Player, Banker, or Tie?
Yes, optional side bets are available in addition to the three main bet types, though these carry different odds and payouts.
